25th Anniversary!In October of 2006, Black Community Developers will celebrate our 25th anniversary. We will keep you posted about events surrounding the celebration.
October 14 - 16, 2005
Christ - the Caring Connection Conference will be offered at the Theressa Hoover Methodist Church. This Institute for Mission and Outreach Program, conducted by BCD staff, will provide workshops and training for churches and non-profits who want to implement community develop efforts.
2005 Mission and Outreach goals are to:
- Inform participants of Hoover's history and ministries
- Introduce the need to evangelize to the un-churced
- Begin the process to create outreach ministries
- Create the connection
- Provide models of ministry (community organizing, housing, employment, health care, economic development and substance abuse)
- Encourage participants to move beyond the church walls and into the community
In addition to BCD, the program is sponsored by:
- Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century
- Philander Smith College
- Arkansas Annual Conference
- Theressa Hoover United Methodist Church
- General Board of Global Ministries
